Frequently Asked Questions
How can I contribute to WT Heatmaps?
You can contribute by downloading the program via the "Contribute" button at the top of this page. Once launched, the program will automatically collect data from the game's localhost API while you're playing a supported game mode. After each match, it cross-references this data with your most recent replay (ensure auto-save is enabled in your War Thunder settings) to accurately capture details such as game mode, map, and session ID.
Will air/naval battles ever be added?
Currently, only ground maps are supported, as they are the most frequently played. Air battles could be included by incorporating a third dimension to track the altitude of aircraft. Naval battles could also be added, but given their lower popularity, their usefulness is uncertain.
How do I read a map?
The maps are designed for easy readability. Blue dots indicate capture zones, while red dots mark respawn points. The various marks across the maps represent player positions. Light blue to white tracks show areas with low player traffic, whereas dark red spots highlight popular locations where players frequently gather or stay.
